Bill's Greetings

.
I am enjoying my new role as Interim Director of Missions for the Capital City Baptist Association. It is a new role for me; however, it is a familiar role. From 1981-2006, I served the Illinois Baptist State Association as either the State Director of Missions or the Director of Associational Services. In those roles, one of my responsibilities was to provide orientation for every new Associational Director of Missions in Illinois. Now I am being granted the opportunity to discover whether my orientation for others was on target. I believe that the orientation was on target; however, I am discovering that the Director of Missions role is more demanding than I knew. Of course, I am only working 20 hours a week in this interim role and it is not difficult to find ways to utilize that much time each week. Certainly I am discovering that the Director of Missions role has its challenges and its rewards, as is the case for all of the roles in the work of God’s Kingdom.
Please know that I am aware that I do not have the answers to all of the questions which shall come my way. Nonetheless, I am blessed with many colleagues and acquaintances in the Southern Baptist Convention who know answers to questions which would confound me. I welcome opportunities to assist the churches affiliated with the Capital City Baptist Association—even if I have to admit my lack of knowledge in certain areas. I will go to work to find helpful answers to questions you share with me.
